Ferroalloys are generally used as:
(1) deoxidizer. Oxygen in molten steel is removed during steelmaking, and other impurities such as sulfur and nitrogen can also be removed from some ferroalloys.
(2) Alloy additives. The alloying elements are added to the steel according to the composition requirements of the steel to improve the properties of the steel.
(3) Inoculant. Adding iron into the cast iron before casting can improve the crystalline structure of the casting. In addition, it is also used as a reductant for the production of other ferroalloys and non-ferrous metals by metallothermic reduction, as an alloy additive for non-ferrous alloys, and in a small amount for chemical and other industries.
The use of inoculants in ferroalloys is becoming more and more widespread, the price of inoculants along with the use of ferroalloys prices are also made in the market to adjust accordingly.
